If you haven’t already made an Explosion Box Purse, you are just going to have to try it. They are so fun to make and look just darling when they are finished. I made this purse and gift card holder for a girl’s birthday party. If you would like to make your own explosion box purse, please check out my earlier Explosion Box Purse blog post with instructions.
Purse Details: I inked up the “For You” Scallop circle stamp with markers and stamped on whisper white and punched out with the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch. This piece is then layered with a 1-3/8″ Pretty in Pink Circle and a 1-3/4″ Concord Crush Scallop Circle. The purse topper is two Top Note Die pieces scored in half lengthwise. The lap of luxury Top Note piece was trimmed down at the perforation and layered with the Concord Crush piece. I wheeled the purse base with the kindness wheel. The purse handle is attached to the purse topper through two holes near the score line. It was attached to the topper with sticky strip, so it could lay flat without being bulky. A 4″ length of concord crush ribbon was doubled over and stapled to the front of the pursed topper. The staples are hidden by the scallop circle piece and the self-adhesive velcro dots.
Gift Card Holder Details: I started with a piece of 4” x 6-1/2” of Concord Crush card stock (note: I cut just about 1/16” off the 4” side so that it would fit in the purse better). On the 6-1/2” side, score at 1-1/2” and 4”. Use the 2-3/8” Scallop circle punch to cut half a scallop circle out of the 1-1/2” segment. Stick this pocket to the inside with sticky strip. Decorate the front to match your purse.

I am having major problems with the velcro. It just sticks together and not to the back (so rips off together when I try to open it) I tried to sticky strip it onto the bag as well but it still pulled off. I was wondering if you had any tips for the velcro or any other suggestions.
There are two possible things that I can think of to try. 1) The first time you pry apart the velcro, go slowly. Then make sure you really press down each separate part of the velcro so that it adheres well to the card stock. 2) Try different velcro. I was recently at the craft store looking at the different velcro and realized there were several different kinds. The velcro I used is several years old, so I’m not sure if what they are selling now is the same. I hope this helps.
