Hershey’s Baby Carriage

For a VIDEO TUTORIAL CLICK HERE
I updated and made a video tutorial for the Hershey’s Baby Carriage in May 2015.

Recently I had a request to create a Hershey’s baby carriage (thanks Susan H.). The baby carriage turned out to be a fun challenge for me, since I had to find a way to make the wheels. I think this baby carriage would make an excellent baby shower favor or just a little something to give an expectant mom or grandmother.

If you would like to make your own Hershey’s Baby Carriage just follow my step-by-step instructions below. Please Note: a good quality card stock is a must for a good looking finished product. I use and recommend Stampin’ Up card stock for all my Hershey’s tutorials. A complete supply list with item numbers is given at the end of this tutorial.

Hershey’s Baby Carriage

Step One

1. For the body of the baby carriage, start with a 9-1/8” x 1” strip of Soft Sky Card Stock. On the long side, score the strip at the 3/8”, 1-3/8”, 2-3/8”, 3-½”, 4-½”, 5-5/8”, 6-5/8” and 8-¾” marks.

Step Two

2. Put a piece of sticky strip on both of ends of the scored strip.

Step Three

3. Fold the strip along all score lines as shown.

Step Four

4. Making sure you orient your strip as shown in the photo, remove the piece of sticky strip from the right side (it is the side that has the long segment next to the sticky strip tab) and adhere it against the fourth score line as counted in from the left side. The score line from the tab should align with the fourth score line.

Step Five

5. Now remove the other piece of sticky strip and adhere it to the middle of the 2-1/8” segment as shown.

Step Six

6. For the first baby carriage filler strip, cut a 7” x 1” strip of Marina Mist Card Stock. On the long side, score the strip at the 1”, 2”, 3”, 4”, 5” and 6” marks.

Step Seven

7. Fold the strip into triangles as shown.

Step Eight

8. Insert the triangular strip into the larger of the two sections of the carriage.

Step Nine

9. For the second baby carriage filler strip, cut a 5” x 1” strip of Marina Mist Card Stock. On the long side, score at the 1”, 2”, 3” and 4”marks.

Step Ten

10. Fold the strip into triangles as shown.

Step Eleven

11. Insert the triangular strip into the remaining open section of the carriage.

Step Twelve

12. Pop five Hershey’s Kisses into the open spaces.

Step Thirteen

13. For the handle of the baby carriage, start with a 2- ½” x 1” strip of Marina Mist Card Stock. Curl one end of the handle around a wooden skewer.

Step Fourteen

14. Adhere the handle to the carriage with sticky strip.

Step Fifteen

15. For the wheels, start with a 7-½” x 1” strip of Marina Mist Card Stock. On the long side, score at, ½”, 1”, 1-½”, 2”, 2-½”, 3”, 4-½”, 5”, 5-½”, 6”, 6-½” and 7”

Step Sixteen

16. Put a piece of sticky strip on both of ends of the scored strip.

Step Seventeen

17. Fold the strip along all score lines as shown.

Step Eighteen

18. Remove the sticky strip liner and adhere the ends of the strip to the long segment as shown. The end of the strips will match up with the score marks of the long segment.

Step Nineteen

19. For the wheel filler strips, cut TWO 4” x 1” strips of Marina Mist Card Stock. Loosely roll each of the strips around the middle of your Simply Scored Stylus tool.

Step Twenty

20. Place one of the rolled strips in each of the hexagonal wheel spaces. Push the strips so that they unroll and relax to the sides of the hexagon.

Step Twenty-one

21. Push a Hershey’s Kiss into each of the wheel spaces. The kiss should fit snugly without falling out. If it’s too loose, cut a slightly longer strip than you did in step 19. If it’s too tight, remove the wheel filler strip and cut it a little shorter.

Step Twenty-two

22. Adhere the wheels to the bottom of the baby carriage with sticky strip.

Step Twenty-three

23. Decorate the rest of the baby carriage as desired. I used the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set to decorate the wheels and the Label Love Stamp Set to add the sentiment “cutest baby ever” to the top.

Time Saver Steps

Time Saver Step 1: For the body of the baby carriage, start with a 9-1/8” x 8” piece of Soft Sky Card Stock. On the 9-1/8”, score the piece at the 3/8”, 1-3/8”, 2-3/8”, 3-½”, 4-½”, 5-5/8”, 6-5/8” and 8-¾” marks. On the 8” side, cut into one inch strips. This step will give you EIGHT baby carriage body strips.
Time Saver Step 6: For the first baby carriage filler strips, cut a 7” x 8” piece of Marina Mist Card Stock. On the 7” side, score the strip at the 1”, 2”, 3”, 4”, 5” and 6” marks. On the 8” side, cut into one inch strips. This step will give you EIGHT filler strips.
Time Saver Step 9: For the second baby carriage filler strips, cut a 5” x 8” piece of Marina Mist Card Stock. On the 5” side, score at the 1”, 2”, 3” and 4”marks. On the 8” side, cut into one inch strips. This step will give you EIGHT filler strips.
Time Saver Step 15: For the wheels, start with a 7-½” x 8” piece of Marina Mist Card Stock. On the 7-½”, score at, ½”, 1”, 1-½”, 2”, 2-½”, 3”, 4-½”, 5”, 5-½”, 6”, 6-½” and 7”. On the 8” side cut into one inch strips. This step will give you EIGHT wheel strips.

PRINTABLE VERSION

Would you like a printable version of this tutorial?
If you’ve ever tried to print out a tutorial from a blog, you’ll know how frustrating it is to have a super long document that wastes a lot of paper and really doesn’t look that great. I have taken the aggravation and work away from you and UPDATED and condensed all the photos from the original step-by-step tutorial into 6 pages (8 pages total, including title page and page with time saver steps supplies and recommendations). The printable version is available for $4.99 below.

Hershey's Kisses Baby Carriage

Here is an updated supply list (2021) with current products and links. Please note, I now recommend using Tombow glue to hold the baby carriage together permanently. The 3/4″ circle punch is retired, but I left it in the supply list as a reference. The Dog Builder Punch has a small heart which is perfect for the center of the wheel. Please contact me, if you have questions.
