Thursday Tip: Bigz Die Time & Paper Saver

Have you ever cut something with a Bigz Die only to find out that an edge got cut off? OR Do you find yourself measuring your die every time you need to cut a piece? The problem is that it’s hard to see the lines of the die, so sometimes placement can be off. The frustration factor gets even bigger when it’s your last piece of patterned DSP that has been ruined.

For each new Bigz die I get, I take out my ruler and measure the die shape to determine how big of a piece of card stock I need to cut the shape correctly. I write these measurements on my die with a Black Sharpie. I then take a SCRAP piece of card stock of that size and carefully center it over the cut lines. I fold back the piece and keep peeking until I have the placement perfect. I then take a Silver Sharpie and trace around it. Next time I cut that shape, I find the correct measurement on the top of my die and then I align the piece easily using my Silver Sharpie marks as a guide. No more cut off edges. No more time wasted measuring for size each time.

The Gift Bow die is the perfect die to mark up. The angle of the main bow piece is particularly difficult to place without help.

The gift bow dies makes the perfect bow to top this XL Hershey’s candy bar. I used an 8″ x 7″ piece of Venetian Romance DSP to wrap around the bar. Then I layered it with some die cut framelit shapes and finished it off with some ruffle stretch trim. All supplies are available for purchase below. I hope you like it and I hope you liked my Thursday tip.
