How do you give a clean and simple card more depth without overwhelming it with extra details? I say add a scored frame. A scored frame adds just the hint of a modern border instead of the traditional matted look. If you want to know how to make your own easy-peasy scored frame, just follow along…
Start with a 2″ square of scrap card stock. Make a mark 1/4″ in from the corner going both ways.
Use your 1″ square punch to make a perfect square cut out. Note: use the other corners of the square to make a template for the other sizes you might need like 3/8″ and 1/2″.
Use your template to trace the corners onto the backside of the piece of card stock you want to frame.
Score from the corner of one pencil mark to the corner of the next pencil mark. Keep turning your card stock until you have all four sides done.
When you are finished you have the perfect frame for your image. I hope you like my Thursday tip. All supplies to make the card and scored frame are available for purchase below.
