Friday Finds, where I find inspiration in the world around me
I saw this Land’s End catalog cover photo a few weeks ago and I saved it to use for inspiration at a later date. What really caught my eye was how cleverly the pinks and oranges were used together. I thought it would make a great color and pattern inspiration and amusingly the banner on the ad says “play with pattern create with color.”
The stripes on the dress inspired the stripes on my background. I used circles to soften up the hard lines in the background. To make the background stripes I used Blushing Bride, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pink Pirouette inks (see my instructions below). To make the circles, I used the circles framelits running two consecutive sizes through the Big Shot at a time. The greeting was stamped in Strawberry Slush and the arrow was stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe

I started with a 5″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Whisper White Card Stock. I used my grid paper as a guide to mark 1-1/4″ up on one side and 1-1/4″ down on the other side.
I used clear block ‘H’ as a stamp. Ink the block just like you would a stamp. I used Blushing Bride ink for my middle stripe. Note: Make sure you start with a really clean block to begin with.
I lined up the block using the arrows as a guide.
The image you get will not be perfect, but that’s part of its charm. Repeat for the other two stripes. Note: Blushing Bride ink dries a lot lighter and pinker than it stamps. I took this photo right after I stamped it when the ink was still wet.
