Friday Finds: Fall Colors

One of the best times of year in New England is Fall. Already the leaves are starting to turn and I found this beauty greeting me on my walk this morning. What’s a crafty girl to do when inspired, but make something.

I also have a bit of a confession. I have very few current autumn stamps this year, so to make this card I had to improvise. Basically I ended up playing up with a gold foil maple leaf and blendabilities and coming up with a new technique. Well, I think I came up with a new technique. Somebody, somewhere probably already invented it, but last night I felt like I was Einstein, so just let me have my moment. Before I forget, this technique also only uses the darkest blendabilities, which is likely the color you use the least, so it’s a win-win technique!!

Look what I did with the Baked Brown Sugar Baker’s Twine. Doesn’t this knot look cool. I just tied a knot onto the twine and then tied on another two more. Then I unraveled the ends and voila cool knot.

The next few photos show how I made the maple leaf. You will be amazed at my scribbling skills. I think the leaf could turn out even better if you play with the color layering and blending a little more.

Want to make this card? I have all the things you’ll need to make it HERE!

Cut a maple leaf out of Gold Foil Sheet.

Scribble on the maple leaf with the darkest Daffodil Delight Blendabilities using the brush tip.

Scribble on the maple leaf with the darkest Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities using the brush tip.

Scribble on the maple leaf with the darkest Old Olive Blendabilities using the brush tip.

Scribble on the maple leaf with the darkest Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities using the brush tip.

Dip a cotton swab in 91% isopropyl alcohol.

Use the alcohol-dipped cotton swab to gently blend the colors. If you blend a lot you may find silver peeking out underneath. What do you think? Leave me a comment below. Happy Stamping!!
