Minute Mondays: Peek A Boo Booties Card

This is a simple little note card with a twist. The die cut holes for the booties peek through to a baby carriage on the inside of the card. The booties line up so that they make clever use of the pattern on the Designer Series Paper.

The Lullaby Designer Paper has the perfect patterns for this project, if you hit it just right you can get a heart placed right on both heels of the booties.

The Baby First Framelits and the Something for Baby stamp set are a great deal at 15% off when you buy them as bundle. Just click on the icons in the supply list below to see the details. Oh and don’t forget to stamp on the envelope. It’s an extra little touch that’s often not available with store bought cards.

Here’s how I made this card. Start off by die cutting the baby carriage. The paper patterns in the wheels of the carriage will be the ones that will show through the die cut booties, so take a little time lining up the pattern so it looks straight and symmetrical before running the die through the Big Shot.

Take a Stampin’ Up Note Card (the front measures 3-1/2″ x 5″) and find the center point (2-1/2″ in from the side). Draw a line down the center with a ruler as shown. Note: Getting the booties centered is key to a good-looking card.

Place the note card on the cutting platform of your Big Shot. Line up the baby carriage on the front of the card. The pencil line should run right in between the wheels. Next place the booties over the baby carriage wheels. Note: I made sure that I had a heart on each heel of the booties.

Place a piece of painters tape over the booties. Make sure that you use as small a piece as possible. I cut mine down to size and tried to have just a little contact at both ends.

Once the booties are secured, carefully slide the baby carriage away before you run the booties through the Big Shot.

Gently remove the painter’s tape and the booty die pieces. Erase the pencil line.

Put adhesive on the back of the die cut baby carriage piece. Line up the baby carriage wheels with the holes of the die cut booties. Carefully close the card while keeping the baby carriage die cut aligned

When the card is completely closed you should see the paper from the baby carriage peeking through to the front of the card. When the card is open you can see the die cut baby carriage.

The Petite Pairs Stamp Set works perfectly to finish this card off. Stamp “so glad you’re here” on the inside.

Stamp “welcome, baby” on the front of the card. Finish off the card by tying some crisp cantaloupe baker’s twine in a bow and adhering it to the card. Happy Stamping!!
