Gift Bag Punch Board Purse Tutorial

Can you ever have too many purses? Of course not… especially if they are made out of pretty paper. This little purse is made using the NEW Gift Bag Punch Board and a couple of handheld punches. If you want to make one, just watch my video tutorial below.

The Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack is well, um, so “pretty”! You’ll have fun choosing a pattern for your purse flap. All the rest of the supplies you’ll need to make these purses are available for purchase HERE! Earn a FREE tutorial from me when you place a minimum $15 order in my Stampin’ Up Store (see the choices HERE).

Here are a couple of details about the purse that you might not gather at first glance.

  1. The closure is made using a brad located on the purse base that hooks into a 1/4″ sized hole on the purse flap.
  2. The Designer Series Paper covers the flap on the front of the purse and the back of the purse.
  3. The base of the purse measures 2″ x 3″, the height of the purse is 2-3/4″ (not including the handle).

Love this project and all your videos. You have a way of making things "un-fussy" and without a lot of waste. Thanks for sharing this.

I have been watching your videos and following your blog for some time. Shame on me for not commenting as often as I want. Your designs and tips are fabulous, and these purses are too cute! I was not going to buy the gift box punch board, because I thought I don't need another thing to make boxes. Well shame on me again…..I just HAVE to make these purses! Thank you so much for your wonderful inspiration! If you are going to convention in July, let me know and I would love to meet you in person. Thanks again for all you do!

Love this very cute little purse. Looks very easy to. Or at least you make it look that way in the video! LOL
Question: Did you by any chance try this design with a starting piece of paper that measures 4-1/4" x 11"? If it works I could get 2 purses out of one sheet of paper. That's assuming that the 1-1/4" difference doesn't make a huge difference in the shape of the purse.
Thanks again Miss Brenda. You rock!

Hi Jean, I did not try to make them with 4-1/4" card stock, because I thought it would make the purse too small. It would be more like a clutch then. The flap and bottom would stay the same size, because there is no way to vary those dimensions, so the 1-1/4" would be lost in the height alone. If you try it, let us know how it turns out.
