Embossing with die cut & punched shapes: Thursday Tip

I love the new Big Shot Embossing Mats. They allow you to emboss actual dies instead of just cutting with them, but did you know that you could also emboss die cut shapes and punched shapes? By cutting the shapes with the dies and then embossing, you get a slightly different look, then you would if you just embossed the die. You can also emboss a bit deeper than you can with just the die. If you would like to see how to emboss with shapes, just watch my video above (recorded earlier). Here is the SUPPLY LIST!

Remember when I made the saucer for my Hershey’s One Kiss Tea Cup yesterday?  I die cut the scallop circle first and then I came back in and embossed an indent into the saucer using two 1-1/4″ circles (stacked and adhered together).

Here is a card that I made by embossing the larger scallop circle into the middle of the card stock. I then used a second scallop circle as a mask to stamp the foliage around the teacup and greeting. Check out my video above for details on how to make this card.
