Sweet Bugs Birthday Card

Happy Tuesday!  Today I’m making a fun birthday card using the Sweet Bugs Bundle and the Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper. The card front layout was inspired by our CASE-ing Tuesday Challenge (see below).

CASE-ing Tuesday My card was CASE’d from Page 56 of the 2026 Jan-April Mini Catalog. Each week we makeover a card from the current Stampin’ Up catalog and then share it on our Facebook Group. You can join our CASE-ing Tuesday Facebook Group to see more samples and/or share your own card with us. It’s a great way to improve your stamping and challenge yourself to try new styles. Instructions

1. Card Base: Start with an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Basic White CS. On the long side, score at the 4-1/4″ mark. Fold along the score line. Make a pencil mark 1-3/4″ up from the bottom on the left side of the card front and 3/4″ up from the bottom on the right side of the card front. Cut on the diagonal from pencil mark to pencil mark.
2. Bugs & Greeting: Stamp the ants in black ink along the diagonal card front 2″ from the left side (these ants are just a guide as we will be stamping them a second time). Stamp “celebrate” in black ink in line with the trumpet.
3. Die Cuts: On a scrap piece of Basic White CS, stamp the following in black ink: the ants, the Lily of the Valley and the sitting bug (for the inside). Color with Stampin’ Blends and then cut out with the matching dies. Adhere the bugs to the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere the Lily of the Valley directly to the card front with glue.
4. Sunshine: Punch a 2-3/8″ circle out of Darling Duckling CS. Cut the circle in half and then place it on the top edge of the card partially overhanging the left side. Cut off the excess on the left. Trace the arc of the sun with a pencil. Use the dashed line stamp in Darling Duckling ink to stamp sun rays extending from the circle. Adhere the punched piece back in place.
5. Inside: Cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Cute as a Bug DSP and it adhere it to the inside bottom of the card. Adhere the sitting bug on the edge of the DSP and then stamp “Happy Birthday” beside it.
